I am never alone and God is always with me.
“It is the Lord who goes before you; he will be with you and will never fail you or forsake you. So do not fear or be dismayed.” -Deuteronomy 31:8
I still remember crying in my closet one night and telling God that He created me just to make fun of me. I told Him that He was so cold and indifferent to what I was going through. My pain was not something he cared about, or at least that’s what I believed. I was broken, I felt lost, empty, and hopeless. But even though a huge part of my heart believed these lies, a small part cried out minutes later “Lord, please hear me! Please help me! I can’t do this on my own anymore. Please don’t let go of me.” I was reminded of the words of St. Peter “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” -John 6:68 Deeper in my heart I knew that God was there… near me. Even though I felt alone and lost the holy spirit helped me cry out to the Father and ask for His help. And believe me, recognizing and trusting in God’s presence in my life has not been easy, especially when I grew up thinking that I needed to provide for myself always.
There comes a time in our lives (or maybe multiple times) when we find ourselves so far away from God that we believe we are on our own. Our wounds and beliefs of self-sufficiency tell us that we need to provide for ourselves because no one else will. Logic tells us that if we are suffering and someone can help but does nothing for us, then that person must not care about us; therefore, we are on our own. But this is not true. God is always, always there with us. He is not indifferent to what we are going through. God knows what is going on in our lives and our hearts. He knows our deepest wounds and our deepest regrets. And no matter how hard the situation we are going through is, God is always working for our good.
“We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
God understands your pain. He sees you weeping at night, He sees the cry of your heart in those moments of loneliness and hopelessness. But God not only knows about your suffering, He wants to live it with you. He wants to carry it for you. He wants to heal you and set you free. God is with you always.
“And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” -Matthew 28:20
Nothing is too small or insignificant for God to care if it is about you. He cares about your dreams, your concerns, your pain, your struggles, your fears, everything. He cares about what is in your heart because He cares about you. After all, He created you so that He could love you.
God is with you every step of the way.
Today, my dear sister, I invite you to surrender your pain and lack of trust in the Lord. Surrender your struggles, addictions, wounds, and longings and leave them all at the foot of the cross. I also invite you to close your eyes and with all your heart tell Jesus “Jesus, please hold my hand and never let go of it. Please help me to trust in you and know that you are with me always, that you care for me, that you want me close to you. Help me to know that is never too late to go back to you and live under your gaze and in your arms forever. Amen”
You are never alone, my dear sister. God is with you always. He loves you, He longs for you, He wants to hold you in His embrace. This is the truth.
